With a population of approximately 30,000 permanent and 10,000 seasonal residents, Fort Erie is the fastest growing urban centre in the Niagara Region. The Town of Fort Erie is 169 square kilometres in size and comprised of a number of communities, each with a unique character and history. Ridgeway, Crystal Beach, Fort Erie proper and Stevensville are connected by a network of rural farmland and urban settlements.
Fort Erie has an enviable quality of life, making it a great place in which to live, raise a family and operate a business. Located across the Niagara River from Buffalo, New York, and at one of Canada’s major gateway and border crossings, Fort Erie has developed a diverse range of unique cultural and tourist attractions. We are blessed with natural beauty, world-class beaches, wonderful recreational trails and athletic facilities, incomparable history and heritage, a world-class race track, a diversified local economy, and community festivals and events throughout the year.
Fort Erie’s extensive volunteerism, environmental stewardship and dedication to a healthy and vibrant community was affirmed by the win of the 2012 Communities-in-Bloom National Edition and second place finish in the 2015 International Challenge.
